Newsletter – May 2022

Dear Milk Lake Community,

This is John and Jenna, caretakers for the Milk Lake Retreat Centre in Middlewood, Nova Scotia.  As everything “springs” to life we are seeing so much beauty on the land with flowers blooming, bees buzzing and the explosion of colour returning to the property.

Spring Cleanup Day

So many thanks and appreciations to all of those who were able to attend our spring cleanup day from April.24th.  We got a lot accomplished and the cabins look wonderful.  Woodstove’s polished, rugs cleaned, blinds scrubbed, light fixtures washed, and firewood restocked.  The Samayatara cabin was able to get a much needed fresh coat of interior paint which has brought so much life back to the cabin!

We’ve also had the “dragon symbol” of the Milk Lake sign repainted thanks to David Brown and the “Thangka” above the shrine of Buddhalocana reframed thanks to Carolyn Mandelker.

Supporting Milk Lake

The best way to support Milk Lake is by booking your retreat and we want to encourage everyone who has not already booked a retreat to plan for a visit this year.  The Milk Lake website’s cabin availability calendar has all the current retreat reservations and is a great spot to start looking for a cabin to fit your schedule.  We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to come stay and enjoy Milk Lake!

You can also make a donation by going to the Shambhala Canada donation webpage and set up either a one time or monthly contribution.  Be sure to click on the box for recurring donations if that is your intention and add a note “Towards Milk Lake” in the comments box so your donation is directed to the correct fund.

If you have any problems in setting this up, we’d be happy to set this up on your behalf.  Contact us at [email protected] and we’ll happily follow up with you. Thank you to everyone who has already set up a recurring monthly donation towards Milk Lake; it is making a huge difference!
