Cabin Price Increase – March 2024

Dear Milk Lake Community,

This is John Shaw and Jenna Young, caretakers for the Milk Lake Retreat Centre in Middlewood, Nova Scotia.

Thank you to everyone who was able to contribute towards our end of the year fundraiser.  We were able to meet our target of $8,000 to cover the costs of infrastructure repairs in 2023.  In this new year and with your support, there are additional infrastructure projects and improvements that we would also like to complete.

To accomplish this and help us achieve our goal of making Milk Lake Retreat Centre financially sustainable, we are implementing the following new policies.

Cabin Rate Increase & Discounts

We are doing our best to make sure Milk Lake will remain a part of people’s lives and practice experience for years to come.  To guarantee Milk Lake’s future, we are making the following changes:

  1. The current nightly rates of the cabins will be adjusted starting March 1st.

    • We will be changing the price per night to $70.

    • If a retreat is longer than 10 days, the per night price of the cabins will be reduced to $60 a night.

    • The cost of the woodstove heating is still included in this price and the electric baseboard heating will stay at $10 a day.

    • We are aware that there are some people who would like to do a retreat but may not be able to afford it.  We are fortunate to have a scholarship fund that subsidizes a retreat up to 50% of the cost.  When gathering information or requesting a retreat, please do ask about retreat scholarships, if needed!

  1. Last minute deals of 30% off will be offered depending on cabin availability.

    • Watch your emails for these opportunities!

  1. Retreat bookings will only be added to the calendar (link) after the first deposit is received.

  1. Retreat Cancellations Guidelines – for cancellations

    • More than 60 days in advance – your deposit will be fully refunded.

    • Between 30 to 60 days – you can be refunded 50% of your deposit – or – you can reschedule your retreat and your deposit will be credited to that retreat.

    • Less than 30 days – your deposit will not be refunded.
