Newsletter – July 2022

Dear Milk Lake Community,

This is John and Jenna, caretakers for the Milk Lake Retreat Centre in Middlewood, Nova Scotia.  We have been hard at work tending to the property and making sure that everything is ready for you and your next retreat!

Mamaki Cabin

The Mamaki Cabin has had the interior painted which has made it so bright and inviting.  This is thanks to the volunteer efforts of John Odenthal who was able to lend us his time and painting expertise to help us get this done!

Fields

Our farmer neighbors have mowed the fields which are used as hay for their cattle and it helps to keep the Milk Lake property looking pristine.  This year, the hay will also be used for another farm in the area who was in need, and we are very happy to be able to help our community in this way.  It is always such a fun process to see the land turn the golden fields into a trim landscape!

Availability

Milk Lake still has vacancy for your next retreat as we move into August.  If you haven’t already booked your retreat yet for Summer please write to us at  [email protected] or call at (902) 877 7976 for bookings or questions!

The best way to support Milk Lake is by booking your retreat and we want to encourage everyone who has not already booked a retreat to plan for a visit this year.  The Milk Lake website’s cabin availability calendar has all the current retreat reservations and is a great spot to start looking for a cabin to fit your schedule.  We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to come stay and enjoy Milk Lake so don’t delay!

Supporting Milk Lake

We welcome all donations and they can be made either through Paypal or by visiting the Shambhala Canada donation webpage.

When using the Shambhala Canada website, be sure to click on the box for recurring donations (if that is your intention) and add a note “Towards Milk Lake” in the comments box so your donation is directed to the correct fund.

If you have any problems with your donation, we’d be happy to set this up on your behalf.  Contact us at [email protected] and we’ll happily follow up with you. Thank you to everyone who has already set up a recurring monthly donation towards Milk Lake; it is making a huge difference!

(Our neighborly toad friend wishes you a good 2022!)

We welcome all practitioners whether you are well experienced or new to retreats.  If you or someone you know wants to try a retreat for the first time, we’d happily work with them to make sure the first experience goes as smoothly as possible.  Thanks for your time and have a wonderful Summer!
